Potential of 3D Printing
for the Upholstered Furniture Industry

The Matrix technology study explores the potential of additive manufacturing processes for upholstered furniture production. Commissioned by furniture manufacturer Herman Miller Inc., the study demonstrates how 3D printing can flexibly automate textile processing and enhance finishing techniques. It highlights the benefits for product development and illustrates how machines and processes can be seamlessly integrated into existing manufacturing environments.

Workplace Study

In addition to classic ergonomic features, there are softer factors that influence comfort and, consequently, productivity in the office workspace. Atmosphere, emotions, and sensory perceptions are key elements of cognitive ergonomics. I conducted the Focus Study together with Studio 7.5 for the office furniture manufacturer HermanMiller. In six chapters, we examine the development, design, and planning of open-plan offices with a focus on productive concentration and the design of meaningful encounters.

A space-creating office furniture system, distinguished by the lightweight and durability of its components, serves as a case study for a rental scenario in office furnishings to support growth and change within companies. This study was conducted for the office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller.
